SPECIFIC POLYMERS is involved in the PheoPhotoDyn Project which is co-financed by the EU and the Occitanie Region. The project involves two University laboratories from the Occitanie Region, the ICGM-IAM laboratory from Montpellier and the IMRCP team from Toulouse. The PheoPhotoDyn project focuses on an ‘innovative non-drug therapy’, so-called photodynamic therapy (PDT), consisting of the simultaneous action of a non-toxic molecule (the photosensitizer), light and oxygen. The process, used in dermatology and oncology, is limited owing to the induced photosensitivity in patients.
PheoPhotoDyn aspires to improve the efficiency of photosensitizers using tuned polymeric nanovectors based on photoactive polyoxazolines stabilized by photo-crosslinking, which constitutes a primordial step (better stability and enhanced efficiency) as it was recently reported by in Journal of Materials Chemistry B by IAM/ICGM and IMRCP partners. Within the scope of this project, SPECIFIC POLYMERS designs and provides to the consortium photosensitive monomers and polymers able to create reversible crosslinked networks under UV-light exposure.
