14 Jan Bifunctional Polyethers with Azide End Groups

Product of the month | January 2025
SP-1P-4-002 and SP-1P-4-004 are bifunctional polyethers bearing azide moieties at both chain ends. These R&D products are primarily valued as intermediates in click chemistry, particularly in azide-alkyne cycloaddition, a highly efficient and selective reaction. This process allows the synthesis of well-defined macromolecular architectures such as block copolymers, dendrimers, hydrogels, membranes, and functionalized surfaces. [1], [2], [3] Their bifunctional nature also makes them excellent crosslinkers for various types of materials. [4] The PEG version (Poly(ethylene glycol), α,ω-bis(azide)) provides additional advantages due to the properties of the PEG backbone, including enhanced water solubility and biocompatibility. These features make PEG azides particularly suitable for biomedical applications, such as drug delivery systems and biomaterials. Typically, these two polymers are available with a molecular weight of 1000 or 2000g/mol to fine-tune material properties. Available batch sizes include 5 g, 10 g, and 25 g, and bulk quantities upon request.
