DGEVAC

Product of the month | June 2025

DGEVAC (SP-9S-5-007 – CAS n° 1393710-63-8), or Diglycidyl Ether of Vanillic Acid, is a bisphenol-free epoxy monomer developed by SPECIFIC POLYMERS. Derived from vanillic acid, a lignin-based aromatic precursor, DGEVAC offers a sustainable alternative to conventional petrochemical-based epoxy precursors such as DGEBA (Diglycidyl Ether of Bisphenol A), which is under scrutiny due to its reprotoxic nature. With its aryl structure and multifunctional epoxy groups, DGEVAC exhibits excellent reactivity and compatibility in thermosetting systems, making it suitable for high-performance applications in coatings, adhesives, composites, and electronics. More, it contains in its chemical structure a cleavable ester function that may be of interest for chemical degradability aspects . As part of broader efforts toward greener and safer chemistry and the circular economy, DGEVAC offers a renewable alternative to conventional epoxy monomers while preserving the mechanical, thermal, and chemical resistance properties expected from advanced epoxy systems.
