Poly(ethylene glycol), α-hydroxy, ω-phosphonic acid

Product of the month | July 2023

SP-1P-1-006 is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) bearing two different end groups: i) a phosphonic acid group known for its adhesion properties, and ii) a hydroxyl group. This heterobifunctional polymer is highly soluble in water and biocompatible.

Thanks to the phosphonic acid terminal function, this polyether can be grafted on metallic surfaces such as alumina[1], iron or cerium oxide nanoparticles[2,3] leading to interesting stability properties in water and in cell culture media.

In terms of applications, this polymer is described in the development of hydrophilic organically-modified ceramic membranes for wastewater treatment[1], polyurethane lacquer[2] and can be used for several biomedical applications, in particular by the functionalization of Cerium Oxide nanoparticles.[3]

SP-1P-1-006 is an oligomer with 8 to 11 units of PEG with a molecular weight around 500-650g/mol.
