Polymers Company

Design and synthesis of innovative and functional polymers not currently available on the market

The main activity of a polymers company is designing and synthesizing innovative and functional polymers currently not available on the market, to validate proof of concept in various fields of application. Our core business activity is related to the custom synthesis of polymers.

We can achieve and implement various polymerization methods, such as free radical polymerization, controlled radical polymerization (RAFT/MADIX, ATRP, ARGET-ATRP, NMP), radical telomerization, step-growth polymerization (polycondensation, polyaddition), ring-opening polymerization, photopolymerization, polymer post-functionalization or dispersion or emulsion polymerization. Variety of techniques facilitates tuning the structure of the polymer as follows:

  • Composition: homopolymer, random/statistical copolymer, alternated copolymer, gradient copolymer, block copolymer or grafted copolymer
  • Architecture: Linear, Comb / Brush, Star, Hyperbranched or Dendritic
  • Functionality: End-functional, Poly-functional, Telechelic, Hetero-bifunctional
  • Molecular weight & Dispersity: From 500 to 500 000 g/mol with an adjustable polydispersity index

Thanks to these polymerization techniques, we can design an extensive range of polymers, such as poly(meth)acrylate, poly(meth)acrylamide, polystyrene derivatives, polyesters, polyamide, polyimide, polycarbonate, polyurethane, polyhydroxyurethane and polyurea.

Apart from our polymer synthesis skills, we are also working with various specialty polymer chains, relevant to many different applications. As polymers company, we aim to bring specific functionalities to modify polymer performance and adapt them for specific applications. Our main range of specialty polymers are listed below:

  • Biodegradable Polymers: polylactic acid (PLA), polyglycolide (PGA), polylactide-co-glycolide (PLGA), polycaprolactone, poly(glutamic acid), poly(benzyl glutamate), etc.
  • Water-soluble polymers: poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH), poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc), poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP), poly(viny imidazole) (PVIm), poly(acrylamide) etc.
  • Polymeric salts: poly(vinyl imidazolium), poly(vinyl pyridinium), poly(diallyl dimethyl ammonium), poly(styrene sulfonate), poly(MTFSILi), etc.
  • Stimuli-responsive polymers: thermosensitive polymers (PolyNIPAM), pH-responsive polymers
  • Functional polyether from poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO / PEG), poly(propylene oxide) (PPO / PPG), polytetrahydrofuran (PTHF, PTMEG), etc.
  • Functional polyolefins from polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) or polyisobutylene (PIB), etc.
  • Functional rubbers such as polybutadiene (BR), polyisoprene, polysiloxane, polysilazanes, etc.
  • Fluoropolymers: PTFE, PVDF, PFPE, PFA, FEP, (P(VDF-HFP), etc.
  • Thermostable polymers: polyetherketone (PEK), polyetheretherketone (PEEK), polyetherketoneketone (PEKK), polyetherimide (PEI), polyethersulfone (PES), polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM), etc.
  • Optical polymers: high refractive index, low refractive index, fluorescent, NLO polymers

The aforementioned list of specialty polymers is not restrictive, and we can work on a variety of custom-designed polymers. We can reproduce protocols from scientific articles and patents or establish new synthetic routes to prepare the specialty polymer you envisioned. Our objective is to design and produce the desired quantity to validate your proof of concept in your application field.
