SDICYLi (SP-59-021) is a fluorine-free lithium single-ion monomer developed by SPECIFIC POLYMERS to address growing challenges related to PFAS regulations in advanced battery research. Designed for next-generation polymer electrolyte materials, SDICYLi is particularly relevant for solid polymer electrolytes (SPE), gel polymer electrolytes (GPE), and advanced single-ion conducting materials for lithium battery technologies. The product is currently proposed for sale in 5 g, 10 g and 25 g batches.

What makes SDICYLi especially attractive is its fluorine-free design combined with its lithium single-ion conducting functionality. In contrast to conventional electrolyte salts and monomers containing fluorinated groups, SDICYLi was specifically engineered to provide a more sustainable and regulation-compliant alternative while remaining highly relevant for advanced electrolyte developments. As a single-ion monomer, SDICYLi contributes to polymer electrolyte systems where lithium transport is decoupled from counter-ion mobility, an important strategy to improve ionic selectivity, electrochemical stability, and battery safety.

First introduced during Batteries Event 2024 alongside SCYLi, SDICYLi is currently produced at laboratory scale. At this stage, no major technological barriers to scale-up have been identified, supporting its progressive transition from advanced research material toward broader scientific and industrial evaluation.
