SP-51-003 is a building-block containing two reactive functions: a styrene group and a phosphonic acid group. This monomer is mainly used in conventional free radical polymerization as well as transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) to lead to random or block copolymers. Thanks to the phosphonic acid terminal function, the resulting copolymers can be grafted on metallic surfaces such as Aluminium, Titanium, Iron or Cerium oxide. [1]
The amphiphilic properties of SP-51-003 could contribute to the molecular self-reorganization and create crystalline domains in the copolymers. [2] With their high heat resistance and adhesive properties, they could be used for the preparation of high temperature stable coatings. It was recently used in nanoscale antibacterial polymer coating by grafting the copolymers onto metallic materials as Titanium surface. [3]
SP-51-003 is sold in batches of 5 g, 10 g and 25 g and its TDS is downloadable on our website.
