TMP tricyclocarbonate

TMP tricyclocarbonate

Product of the month | May 2024

SP-3-00-003 or TriMethylPropanol (TMP) tricyclobarbonate is a crosslinking agent with three cyclocarbonates functions. The cyclocarbonate group is very polar and can react with various nucleophiles. It could replace the isocyanate function and react with amines groups and give hydroxy urethanes functions. The hydroxyurethane moieties are known as greener and safer alternatives to conventional polyurethane.

SP-3-00-003 could be used to produce sustainable nonisocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) foams [1], hybrid materials [2] via polyaddition with difunctional amines. By combinaison of cyclic carbonate-amine polyaddition and sol-gel chemistry, the SP-3-00-003 could provide adhesives with ultrastrong adhesion performances even at ultra low temperature (-196 °C). This characteristic has got a promising potential for applications in aerospace, aircraft, and energy. [3] It could also be used to create a sustainable polyhydroxyurethanes (PHU) thermosets which could be used for structural applications as fiber-reinforced materials. [4] The crosslinking can also induce the white light emission for White LEDS. [5]

SP-3-00-003 is sold in batches of 10, 25 and 50 g and bulk quantities could be synthesized on demand. Feel free to visit the product webpage and download its TDS for further information.
