Vanillin benzaldehyde

Product of the month | November 2023

SP-3-00-006 is a diphenyl ether synthesized from vanillin, a sustainable precursor that can be extracted from lignin. Heat-resistant and less toxic resins can be synthesized by polymerization of phenolic resins with SP-3-00-006.1

Also, this bis-functionalized building-block bearing two reactive aldehyde groups can be involved in several chemical reactions with Nitrogen-based nucleophiles. By condensation reactions with amines, hydrazines or alkoxyamines, Shiff bases and polyazomethines2 but also stable hydrazones and oximes can be designed and synthesized. The reversibility of the created bounds is a topic of interest in the design of innovative recyclable thermoset materials. By using SP-3-00-006, both sustainability and recyclability properties combine in your thermoset materials.

SP-3-00-006 is sold in batches of 5g, 10g and 25g and its TDS is downloadable on our website.
